Welcome to 2020 where silly arbitrary fashion rules such as “no white clothing after Labor Day” are just that, silly. I put together this guide to wearing white after labor day to basically say that we can do what we want. That’s kind of how I my style! I tried to search why this was even a thing and came to the conclusion that nobody really knows the real history behind it.

Some say that this fashion rule came about in the 19th century as a way for old money to distinguish from new “F you” money. However, others say that Labor Day also marks the end of summer! Typically, white clothing is worn during the summertime because it doesn’t absorb light and heat therefore, keeping you from sweating and looking like a mess. So when summer ends, people tend to pack their white flowy summer pieces away to get ready for darker toned fall/winter clothing.

Well, whatever the reason is, you’d be pretty silly to follow this nonsense. I’m convinced nobody in this generation actually takes this no white after Labor Day rule seriously.

Labor Day sales are going on all over the country so this guide will be really helpful if you’re looking to shop and add new clothing pieces to your wardrobe and be able to wear white all year round.

A white layer of outerwear on any outfit instantly adds a dash of chicness. Taking a slim fit white blazer and wearing it with jeans, or a fitted dress is one of my favorite ways to elevate an outfit.
