Today I wanted to share with you guys a review of IL Makiage Woke Up Like This Foundation. I’m so excited to be making beauty posts again! Specially product reviews. I want to start writing about my favorite products and share them with you. If you’ve been curious about this particular brand, please read on.
After spending some time on the beauty side of instagram or any other social media platform, I’m sure you’d have come across an IL Makiage ad or two. What’s different about this ad that captivated me was that they showed regular women using the product. You know, ones that look like myself and not some overdone model who was the subject of a whole commercial production.
I was definitely a little weary at first because if there’s one tricky thing about makeup, it’s getting a great match of your foundation. I’ve been guilty of mixing different foundations just to get a good match for my skin. This brand promises to find your perfect match using their online questionnaire. I know, crazy. No swatches on the back of the hand, wrists, or even neck! Just like how we did in the old times. Best of all, you get to try a full size product for 14 days before paying for it.
Anyway, as previously mentioned, after taking the quiz on the Il Makiage website , they determined that my perfect shade match is Woke Up Like This – 105. My package came with a couple of free gifts as well. One of the free gifts I received was this foundation brush which I started using to apply this foundation. It really does the job well and allows for an even application of the product.
I gotta be honest, it took me days to decide if I should go for it. I mean, the raving reviews were great, but it’s bit on the pricier side. Also, what if the quiz was wrong? Then I realized that I will be on trial period and can return it for free if I didn’t love it.
Below is my before and after. I do have some hyperpigmentation from picking on blemishes (I know, bad!). As you can see, the foundation match is spot on and it covered the marks without making my face look cakey! I love that this formula is lightweight and buildable. However, I did find that the the staying power is not as long. Maybe with a bit of setting powder it would have. But for it’s price, I expected it to really hit the major requirements for a great foundation.
So I definitely recommend the brand Il Makiage for foundation and I’m still amaze at how good their matching quiz is! My shade Woke Up like this is spot on. I hope you found this review helpful.

– doesn’t stay on as long

I’d been wondering about Il Makiage for the longest time! I kept getting so many ads for them but had the same qualms as you — being able to match the right shade online & the higher price point. I think I’ll probably skip for now, considering longevity doesn’t sound that great.
