Hi there! My very first post for the year is here. This post is about our visit to the Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory.

It’s a brand new year so join me in reminiscing about the wonderful places we’ve been to and day dream about the next time we find ourselves in new places again. Places all over the world are doing their part to ensure that precautions are in place to keep people safe and minimize the risk of Covid for their patrons. I love the effort to try and maintain some sort of normalcy in our society. Just like many of you, I’ve also minimized traveling and could not wait til the next time we can visit new places again without all the restrictions.

I wanted this lifestyle blog to highlight moments of happiness, and for me, one of those things is exploring places I have not been to. There is just something so fulfilling about it.

Looking back at my old photos, I realized that there’s so much I’ve yet shared. So as part of my monthly goals for this year, I wanted to catch up on several posts that I’ve meant to publish a long time ago. If you’re interested in seeing new posts, be sure to subscribe to this blog or follow me on instagram. I’d love to connect!

So our trip to Key West included a visit to one of their popular attractions, the Butterfly & Nature Conservatory. This attractions is a must do for those looking for things to do in Key West. This would be my second time at a butterfly conservatory, and I couldn’t wait to be enthralled by the exotic sight of the dozens of butterflies roaming freely.

As you walk into the building, you will see the ticket counter and their gift shop. I’m not much into spending too much time looking at the gift shop displays unless I’m looking for a fridge magnet to take home. A ticket purchase includes a cute little butterfly sticker that you can keep as a souvenir, as seen on my dress below.

Having been to the butterfly garden in Columbus Ohio, I knew I’m in for a pleasant time. The sights and sounds as you go through the self paced tour along the marked pathways gave such a serene feeling. Yes, even the loud squawking of the flamingos! That’s just nature baby.

Sure, I mainly came for the butterflies but all the other animals you come across randomly was a really fun bonus. They advise you not to touch the butterflies, they are really fragile creatures after all, but you are absolutely welcome to enjoy the ones who freely consented to landing on you. So stay still when they do and make sure to have your camera ready because they don’t stay on too long. I don’t know why that is so exciting but it just is.

The Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory is not big and being self paced you can take as much time as you like. The picture above shows a room after exiting to check for what they call “hitchhikers.” It’s there to make sure you don’t take more than pictures and memories with you as you leave the conservatory.

Hope you get the chance to visit it someday!
