With most leisure travel coming to a halt during the pandemic, most of us are left at home daydreaming about the next time we get to travel again. Although most places are starting to open back up with precautions, there are still plenty of countries that are closed to tourists. To satisfy my wanderlust during these times, I thought it would be fun to make a travel wishlist for after the pandemic.

You can use Kayak’s page to see travel restrictions by country, HERE.

I also wanted to write this post because this would be the time where I start to plan my birthday trip. It’s always been something I look forward to. Every year, I set out to travel, preferably, out of the country to places I’ve never been to.

Just like last year, it’s looking like there wouldn’t be international travel for my birthday in July. But that’s okay! I’ve compiled this list of travel wishlist. Maybe you get inspired to create your own travel wishlist post pandemic after reading this!

So let’s get to it.

1. Hawaii

So this is the only non-international destination on this list, but let’s get real, Hawaii COULD easily feel like another country. Honestly, I don’t know where my obsession of Hawaii came from but this is high up on my bucketlist. It sounds like the ultimate romantic getaway. Some of my most favorite romantic movies are set in Hawaii. i.e. 50 First Dates.

Checklist:

  • Experience the culture
  • Explore authentic Hawaiin cuisine
  • Go Hiking
  • Attend a Luau
  • Visit a volcano national park

2. Rome

Although I’ve been to Italy, this one particular trip would be to experience international travel with my significant other. He loves stadiums and what’s more amazing than experiencing one of the most iconic stadiums in human history? Sure, the shindigs that occurred in this place probably weren’t the most pleasant events, but seeing this architectural wonder will be nothing but extraordinary.

Checklist:

  • Visit the Colosseum
  • Eat authentic Italian cuisine
  • Explore Vatican City
  • Stop by Trevi Fountain

3. Philippines

My home country! I can’t believe how many years have passed since I left. I have been wanting to go visit but never made it a priority until recently. My parents retired and decided that they want to spend their retirement here. I would love to go visit them when the country finally opens up for US citizens.

Checklist:

  • Visit Siargao
  • Eat all the Filipino food
  • Go island hopping
  • Take surfing lesson

4. Peru

So for a couple of years, I was looking into going to Peru for my birthday. Unfortunately, it still hasn’t happened, but I know that I will one day do the infamous trek to Machu Picchu. This will also check South America on my “Visit all 7 continents” bucketlist item.

Checklist:

  • Reach Machu Picchu
  • Try Peruvian food
  • Pet a Llama
  • If time permits (step foot in the real Amazon)

5. Iceland

Another dream destination. Although this might be a double edge sword because the main objective of this trip would be to see what I would say might be the most amazing nature show I can think of. So being that the appearance of the northern lights are not always guaranteed, I’d be pretty bummed making my way all the way to not see them.

Checklist:

  • Witness the Northern Lights
  • Visit Blue Lagoon
  • Go sight see, specially the waterfalls
  • Try Icelandic Cuisine
  • See a geyser

There you go! I’m pretty excited about this list because I know that I will complete it one way or another.

It was so much fun writing this list! It somehow re-lit a fire in me, and I’m more excited than ever to start planning trips again.

Stay tune! Maybe my next travel post will be from one of these places!
